In Autumn FTP presented the successful Captain Cook Rooftop Sessions on the rooftop veranda of this iconic pub. During that time Latham’s Grip, July Morning, Day Spa, Mirell’a Inferno and The Pretty Littles graced the stage playing to an intimate crowd as the sun set.
With killer views and consistently amazing sunsets on offer in Sydney it seems strange that venues do not use this as a backdrop for live music. However given the NSW governments anti everything stance it should not surprise that venues would err on the conservative side. Luckily the Captain Cook Hotel is willing to take a chance on local live music and offer this space for emerging artists. Captain Cook Hotel has been hosting live music for the past 4 years with bands such as Green Day and Bad//Dreems playing to thirsty punters. The rooftop veranda was once a female backpacker dorm but is now used as an event space, with 180 degree views of Moore Park it makes for a picturesque backdrop.
Rooftop Sessions will continue periodically over the cooler months ramping back up into a weekly event in Spring/Summer. It’s an ideal space for launches, competitions or just a public performance.
